I think the Penguins are hungry. It's hard to predict anything because fate can change so drastically from series to series, but this is a team that looked dead in January and turned it around big time. They were pretty much the best team the last two months of the season and have now been one of the two best over the past month. They're hot and I think they can pull it off, even with Detroit having home ice advantage.

It'll be exciting, that's for sure. It'll also be the second year Hossa had to be on the runner up team.

Detroit will own the Pens in a rematch. Book it.

You also didn't think the Penguins would make a run in the playoffs. :P

Yeah, I am probably wrong more often than not. I would have guessed an Anaheim v. Devils finals before the playoffs. Way off this year.

I do not like the make up of the Pens. Too much offense, not enough defense.

Did you watch the last series? They shut down the Canes. Their defense is very underrated in my opinion. 6 good guys deep. I just hope they can re-sign Scuderi after the season.

No I did not watch any of the last series. I have watched little of the playoffs since the Flames have been eliminated. And while I agree with you that their defense is underrated, I still think it is average at best. Shutting down the Canes is not the toughest thing to do. The Canes were 16th in the league in goals scored this past year. They have talent on the top lines but little scoring depth. The Pens allowed the 16th most goals in the NHL this year. So while they may have average defense, it is no where near the top of the sport. To win the Cup I believe you have to have an elite core of defensemen.

It starts at the top. Gonchar may be an elite defensemen, but he lacks a defensive presence. He is an excellent offensive player, but cannot shutdown his man on defense. Great puck mover, great on the powerplay, good enough shot, but not someone you like on the other teams top line.

Scuderi is a decent enough d-man but hardly a shutdown. He is reliable, but a second pair d-man is as good as he can be. Now that is valuable in its own right, but there are Scuderi's scattered all around the league. He is not the problem on the Pens and he is probably not the solution if he out prices himself.

Now since I said this the Pens should win the Cup.

I can't say I agree with that.

Pens (Malken) are looking as good as any has going into the finals. Detroit is also a bit beat up, so I expect a good series with Cindy getting her first ring. (Sorry George, I could not resist)

Thanks Softy

Sid and Geno have never both played this well at the same time. It's insane. The team was so flat early in the winter, it's amazing how far they've fallen since last June and how far back up they've came.

I'm cautious because like I've said, fate can vary drastically series by series, but they're rolling into the Finals hot as ever and as a fan, I don't think it's unlikely they'll win 4 out of their next 7. Since falling being the Caps 0-2 they're 8-1.

Well, Game 7 it is. This has been a crazy and exciting series.

I can hardly wait until Friday night. I'm going to go crazy before then.

Apart of me thinks this Game 7 could be some sort of a changing of the guard from one dynasty to a budding one. Like when the Islanders lost to the Oilers who won more.
