Devils in 7!

part of feels the same way also... but there is this feeling within me that says...

Senators 07= Canes 06

and by all means I do not question it ebcause they both are pitted against the Devils in Round 2... I just draw a lot of similarities in both their current style of play and personnel.

but with that said...

Devils Players with Stanley Cup Rings: Patrik Elias (2), Scott Gomez (2), Brian Gionta, Sergei Brylin (3), Jamie Langenbrunner (2), Jim Dowd, Jay Pandolfo (2), John Madden (2), Brian Rafalski (2), Colin White (2), Brad Lukowich, Martin Brodeur (3)

Senators Players with Stanley Cup Rings: Martin Gerber

Lets Go Devils!!!

Devils call up Grant Marshall?!?

http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/227931.html

french translation

The New Jersey Devils recalled forward Grant Marshall from their affiliate club, Lowell of the American Hockey League, Wednesday.

Marshall, who has played in 700 games with the Dallas Stars, Colombus Blue Jackets, and the Devils, will have to pass through waivers. All teams will have 24 hours to claim him.

Picked in the first round in 1992 by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Marshall scored 8 goals and 16 assists in 59 games with Lowell this season. He registered 8 goals and 17 assists in his last complete season in the NHL in 2005-06.

Oduya better give Marshall his number back... :wink:

::Shaking head::

What a captain. You think John Madden or Brian Gionta would sit out a 2nd round playoff game against the Senators with a little bit of a cough? I’ll give Elias the benefit of the doubt, I guess. He did have a life-threatening illness less than 2 years ago.

Still, Madden should be wearing the C. And Madden and Gionta are both more valuable for the Devils in this series anyway, IMO. Elias has underperformed every year in the playoffs since they traded away Arnott and Sykora.

Once thing is for sure, Lou doesn’t like this. Jason Arnott sat out Games 5 and 6 against Colorado with a questionable injury in the Cup Finals in 2001. He was traded before next season’s playoffs. Sykora sat out the entire first round series loss to Carolina in ’02 with an ankle bruise. The result? He was traded in the offseason. Wouldn’t be surprised if Lou moved Elias for defense help this offseason, possibly freeing up enough money to resign Gomez. That’s what I would do at least.

But that's talk for a later date.

::shifts into David Puddy mode::

LET'S GET IT ON!!!!!!!

Devils scratches include LW Patrik Elias and D John Oduya.

RW David Clarkson is in the lineup. Hopefully he doesn't allow Neil to run people left and right.

For better or worse, this game was all about the Devils... not to take anything away from the Sens, but the Devils dictated the play most of the night... unfortunately, that wasn't a good thing in the first.

I have never been so disappointed in Marty... and Rafalski! please don't even get me started.

I really thought they were going to win this game when they scored that 3rd goal. Then of course the quick PP goal by Redden to open the 3rd and you knew it was over.

BTW, how many minor penalties is Rasmussen going to take this postseason?

This game reminded me of a game the Rangers-Sens played earlier this year. Senators got out to a 5-0 lead within the first couple of minutes of the third, and the Rangers just completely took over after that. They scored 4 straight and probably would've scored an equalizer had an obvious delay of game been called inside the final two minutes. Emery had that deer in the headlights look, similar to the one he had today, trying to protect that big lead. Ottawa gets complacent and it's pretty noticeable. I felt for sure after Green's goal, that they would at least tie it. If nothing else, you guys can at least take comfort in the fact that no lead is safe with them and that you'll be in every game.

The Devils were all over the place in the first 12 minutes of the hockey game. I cannot blace the blame on a specific member as the whole team was awful.

Brodeur made some nice saves, but the goal that Redden scored looked rather harmless. He seemed to be slow glove side tonight.

Gomez and Gionta look lost with Elias. I know that you are not supposed to replace a player like Elias, but Rass does nothing but slow that line down. Brylin is the only player (not breaking up Parise/Zajac/Langs) that could actually be a decent LW for them. Clarkson looked lost tonight, btw.

White had a nice game, but Greene (other than the goal) and Raffy were mediocre at best.

Despite the negatives, the Devils kept the energy up after being down 4-0, and showed that they will play hard no matter what the score. I except the entire team to play better in Game 2, so I see a nice Devils style win in store.
