That's what she said.

Braun didn't argue evidence of tampering, didn't argue anything about science being wrong but argued protocol had not been followed. A second source confirmed to ESPN investigative reporter Mark Fainaru-Wada that Braun did not dispute the science but rather questioned chain of custody/collection procedure.
According to one of the sources, the collector, after getting Braun's sample, was supposed to take the sample to FedEx/Kinkos for shipping but thought it was closed because it was late on a Saturday. As has occurred in some other instances, the collector took the sample home and kept it in a cool place and possibly refrigerated it. Policy states that the sample is supposed to get to FedEx as soon as possible.
Braun's initial T/E ratio was more than 20:1. And sources previously confirmed synthetic testosterone in his system. A source says MLB is livid and is considering options and other comment.

Some thoughts:
- Braun didn't question the result of the positive drug test(which had synthetic testosterone in it). Getting your drug suspension overturned because your urine sample was mishandled is pretty weak.
- If baseball can't properly administer the testing (and a chain of custody ruling is really about as basic as it gets), then they don't need to test. Totally embarrassing, but par for the course for MLB.

Here's the thing: There are procedures put in place to make sure that samples aren't mishandled and/or tampered with. The reason those procedures are in place is to create a system where we can be completely confident in the results, for the sake of the league, the fans, and the players. If the tests and chain-of-custody are not carried out in a responsible way, the player should not suffer the consequences. Now, we can argue what "responsible" means -- and that argument will ultimately be pointless -- but procedures exist to create a system we have faith in.
I'm not unhappy with the result. Procedures should be followed and there is no "Come on, he totally did it!" exception to the system created by the MLB and agreed to by the MLBPA.

I agree. The courier didn’t know FedEx was open on Saturday and the sample sat in the fridge for two days. I find that sort of irrelevant because Braun's sample that was "corrupted" was not clean originally. It had already failed one test and was going to be tested again.
Braun should have been found not guilty, but he sure as hell shouldn't walk around proclaiming that he's innocent.

We all know that the technical aspects of this are going to be lost in the social crucifixion. Braun's reputation is totally screwed now, so fans that are worried that he got off free and clear are being more than a little bit disingenuous.

I don't care if he does drugs or not, but it's insulting to every fan when he says garbage like this:
Quote:
"Today is for everybody who has ever been wrongly accused," he said Friday at a news conference at the Brewers' training facility in Maryvale, Ariz.
"The simple truth is that I'm innocent," the outfielder said, with his teammates sitting in the stands in uniform behind him. "The truth is always relevant and the truth prevailed."
How was he wrongfully accused? He never doubted the validity of the science.
