MetsBlog aboard the Duda Train:

4:05 pm: In the past, I used to be sure and always catch Albert Pujols and Adam Dunn take batting practice in Citi Field. I get the feeling that I will soon start making the same effort to se Lucas Duda, who put on quite a display before today’s game, sending several balls over the fence and on to the concession stand in right field…

I think you're the only holdout at this point.

I think he could be Adam Dunn Lite.

But from me that isn't a compliment.....

I don't get that comp at all, other than to say "Big bodied, slow-footed guys are all the same."

I think Duda offensively is lesser man's Adrian Gonzalez.... except Gonzalez is elite defensively at 1b and Duda is terrible defensively in RF

Comparing Duda to Dunn really isn't very fair. Duda has yet to show he'll strike out at near record levels.

I want to see Duda rack up more PA for putting too much weight into comparisons, but I think Duda's offensive ceiling is basically Adrian Gonzalez circa 2006-2008: 9.3 BB%, 19.3 K%, .216 ISO, 126 wRC+. Maybe even a little better than that if we're lucky. Keep in mind that's the good Adrian Gonzalez, not the elite hitter he's turned into the last few years. I think his floor is basically Erick Hinske.

There's no reason to believe he ever will.

There's also little reason to believe he'll develop Dunn's power, which while everyone likes to hate on Dunn and who knows how he rebounds, he was a fantastic power hitter for a good run of time. Let's also not minimize how good of an OFFENSIVE player Adam Dunn was/maybe still is.

But they don't profile each other at all. Odd comp.

I think he'll hit for average, hit a heck of a lot fewer home runs, walk a bunch less, and strike out at 70% of the rate over the same number of at-bats.

Different players.

Of course, I think if you were talking about defense, they will be very similar, except Duda can throw.
