I don't think it matters if Lutz hit .500. If DW was out to start the season I think you'd be seeing Turner there unless he really isn't hitting and his defense over at 3rd is horrendous.

Yeah but PERSONALLY I'd rather see Lutz. What's realistic is another story lol

Wright is indeed getting cortisone shot in new york.

I think cortisone usually means a period of no activity and hope that the injection then takes effect, right? So I assume the idea of ramped up activity is going away for a few days.

Morse got one Sat and is DHing today so I don't think there is much of a downtime. Sounds like IF Wright felt fine the shot wouldn't hold him back more than a day (obviously it's unlikely he feels 100% fine).

KB is tied in, but I think it is just speculation about Wright at this point...like we all are about things getting pushed back.

Heyman said last night that the Mets "sources" he talked to were still confident that the Wright issue wasn't any major thing.

I don't think the Mets have necessarily been lying about this thing. I do think they were going to play him Monday, and even the Collins Mon/Tues comment wasn't ruling him in for any immediate action...and that too was just Collins' speaking I think that was even before they got the medical staff involved in the process which seemed to really slow things down.

That said I am not expecting things to go well today and won't be confident until he actually is playing. And I am also skeptical as to why if he's feeling great and much better, he needs a cortisone shot.

Wait... why did Wright need to progress? I thought it was nothing and he'd be playing if there were "real" games.

Murphy
Ike
Duda
Bay
Turner
Thole
Tejada

Playing in "real games" as we've seen doesn't mean its nothing.

Ok, probably doesn't change the "hopefully this weekend" timeline, then.

Are the Mets the only organization in baseball that consistently misdiagnose the severity of player injuries? Or is it just magnified here because it's NY and the Mets have just had so many of them?

A little bit of both I think. Other teams do have issues too. The Red Sox have had some huge ones in recent years themselves.

AdamRubinESPN David Wright had an MRI and there was no damage. He had asked for the shot because he had remained sore but not in pain in the rib cage. 29 seconds ago · reply · retweet · favorite
