RE-LEASE him.
Are you saying we should renew the lease on him?

According to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman, the Mets are entertaining the idea of trading Mike Pelfrey.
Heyman also suggests that the market is unwilling to return fair value. Pelfrey's contract isn't guaranteed, so the Mets can release him to recover three-quarters of his $5.6875 million salary. The 27-year-old right-hander currently owns a 14.90 ERA in three appearances this spring.

Weird to want to trade Pelf today and not at the deadline last season.

Funny thing (to me, anyway): I read the headline on the ESPN New York Saturday wrapup feed "Mets 6, Cards 6: Pelf has zip" and I automatically assumed "zip" meant nothing, since the Cards also scored six runs.
Then I read the story and "zip" actually meant he was throwing harder than he has all spring after making some adjustments to his delivery.
As an aside, the change he and Warthen went to was something he did at Wichita State. It seems to me this is not the first time they have gone back to something he did in college to try to improve his results.
Why don't they just hire his college pitching coach as an organizational instructor? (and I'm not totally kidding).

I have been clamoring for this for a while now......why wont they just let him be THAT WSU pitcher that they drafted in the first place ? Turn him loose, tell him do whatever he feels most comfortable with, and then make a decision from there. What do we have to lose ?
They made so many changes to Pelfrey thinking that they could make him better (tinkering with cut fastballs, sliders, then doing away with sliders, etc...).

They've moved Mike back to his college tactics and then back away so many times I think it'd be foolish to think that the changes he needs to make are as simple as that. Remember when allowing him to throw his 4 seamer and curveball were going to re-make him into that Wichita State pitcher? Yeah, not so much.
I really think they've tinkered and tweaked about as much as they can with Mike and the fact remains that he is what he is. Anything that helps him throw harder though works for me, because there is nothing less fun to watch than a 6'7", 250lb man nibbling with a finesse fastball that doesn't move.
Also, I'm putting forth a petition for a gag order on discussing Mike's 2010 spring training as an example of how he can look his worst in the spring but be his best once the season springs forward. Thats a clear example of breaking the golden rule of spring training stat following - ignoring the process and only judging based on something like ERA. 2010 spring training, ERA notwithstanding, is probably the BEST Mike has ever looked. His velocity was up all spring, he debuted the splitter with solid swing-and-miss results - he had a 16:2 K:BB ratio. His K:BB in all his other spring trainings combined where he was a big leaguer? 38:29. He allowed 8 HRs that spring, which account for the high ERA, but 3 of those came in a classic "wind is gusting out" PSL day vs. the Cards that I remember distinctly watching. 2010 Spring Training is almost undoubtedly the BEST Mike has ever looked coming into a season, and for once, ST performance was semi-predictive, at least early on that year.
