After throwing an intensive bullpen session Saturday, Santana told Collins: "You've got your pitcher for Thursday." Still, Collins waited until a Sunday morning meeting with pitchers to affirm the rotation order.
Santana has thrown no more than 85 pitches in any Grapefruit League game, and Collins said the southpaw likely would not exceed 95 pitches in April. At least six of Santana's first seven starts will be on an extra day of rest because of team off-days.

Nice!!!
Wishing Johan a full recovery (full...to the degree possible). A Santana that could win 12-15 games makes the 2012 Mets FUN and gives management a bit of real pressure to fill in some gaps in 2013.

Santana is a beast.
A few months ago we would have put "Santana Starting on Opening Day" odds around, what, like 20%?

Johan told me pitch count likely around 88 for first few starts, but he and Dan Warthen haven't discussed a hard number yet.
