Bill Hall hit a sac fly, Doug Bernier hit a bloop single in front of Duda (perhaps a speedier fielder has a play on it) and now Dickerson singles through the hole.

6-5 Yankees

Say good day to Niese as Jeff Stevens is coming in to put out the fire.

Welp, didn't really need that to temper what was otherwise a pretty great exhibition season for Niese.

Maybe we get him locked up a few mill cheaper now, though? (kidding)

How many of those hits were actually solidly struck? Sounded like more of a bleeders and dunkers inning. Typical annoying Yankees garbage. Hate them.

On a serious note, Niese's velocity has been very "meh" this spring. We've sounded the alarm on other guys but have been reluctant to say anything on Niese because the results are strong (which is pretty much the opposite of what everyone preaches to do about ST stats), but its been only topping in the upper 80's from what I've seen.

Anyway, something to I guess keep an eye on early this year. He topped out at 93-94 last year, averages about 91.5 on the 4 seamer.

I'd say 6 of the 9 batters hit the ball hard off him. Of the other 3, one was HBP and two were bloops. It was a brutal inning.

He hit 91 on several pitches in today's outing.

Gotcha - still down a tick or two though if he's only topping at 91. Just looking at the game logs from last year on NMig's favorite tool Brooks Baseball (and now mine as well) and he was topping at 93-94 consistently in his early starts.

Bay lines another one, this one caught out in CF.

Sadly, this probably qualifies as Bay's best day of the spring.

Not so sad if it means he is coming on. Save the best for last I always say.

He went 1 for 4 with 2 Ks and a single.

Woo-hoo for "coming on."
