Jenrry Mejia faced batters Monday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery on May 16, 2011.
Mejia is due to again face hitters Saturday, then next Thursday.

Meanwhile, D.J. Carrasco (ankle) has resumed throwing off a mound, while fellow DL'd pitcher Pedro Beato (shoulder) is only progressing "slowly."
Chris Young, who had surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his right shoulder the same day as Mejia underwent the Tommy John surgery, has not yet started facing hitters.

Some Mets guys have not been assigned to any particular roster.
In Erik Goeddel’s case, he has a groin strain. I labeled him as one of the two Mets with the most to prove in St. Lucie in 2011, starting with the fact that he needed to prove he can stay healthy. The good news here is that for a guy who’s had Tommy John surgery in college, and elbow and shoulder soreness as a professional that have kept him off the field in the last two years, it’s a leg thing this time.
Kyle Allen appears healthy. He’s throwing bullpens and traveling with St. Lucie, but is not on the active roster. I did not rank Allen in my Top 41 this year for the first time since 2009, as he’s stalled at advanced-A. In 2010 and 2011 in 207.1 IP with St. Lucie in 47 games and 39 starts he’s given up 237 hits, fanned 5.5 guys per nine and walked 4.9 per nine. I had him ranked highest at #13 in the system in 2010, #29 a year ago and #33 back in 2009. At this point, it seems the Mets are just more interested in giving innings in St. Lucie to other guys who have spent less, (or no) time in advanced-A.
Darrell Ceciliani has not played since Monday night when he strained his hamstring celebrating his game-winning homer. He strained the same hammy in April 2011 with the Gnats and missed almost four weeks. No word yet on the severity of this one.
Cesar Puello has not played since last Friday after fouling a ball off the top of his foot. He’s expected back in the lineup any day now.

Good news on Goeddel that its not his arm. The other 2 injuries seem minor too, but DC's is a bit concerning because of his history.
Kyle Allen, well, lets just say that's not surprising. Thats a super UNIMPRESSIVE pitching staff in St. Lucie, too, so I think he's officially enjoying his last ride as a member of this org.

sounds like a true Met...
How/why do baseball players get hurt on Homerun celebrations? How much did that Angels 1st baseman screw up his career with his HR celebration? It's a simple task, you hit the ball out of the ballpark and then you jog around the bases; the HR should have been the challenge, not getting back to the dugout in one piece...

#BMets 3B Jefry Marte left today's game in Portland with "tightness" in his hamstring. It was a precaution, according to Pedro Lopez.
#BMets first baseman Allan Dykstra appears to have a fractured wrist, but X-rays will be reviewed by doctors in NYC.

No obvious replacements in St. Lucie for Dykstra at 1b. If they want to bring in some offense maybe they promote Vaughn (seems a bit quick but maybe), maybe Shields? Richard Lucas? Joe Bonfe?
Ceciliani has been added to the St. Lucie 7 day DL

Jenrry Mejia was slated for a longer appearance when he faced extended spring training batters Friday in Port St. Lucie, Fla. But Mets staff pulled Mejia just into the right-hander's second inning of work because they sensed he was too excited and overthrowing and "coming out of his delivery," pitching coach Dan Warthen said.
With Mejia in the final stages of returning from May 16, 2011 Tommy John surgery, Mets officials are being vigilant in ensuring Mejia does not alter his delivery or try to overexert himself.
• D.J. Carrasco could begin a rehab assignment for his twisted right ankle with Class A St. Lucie within days.
• Chris Young, who had surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his right shoulder the same day as Mejia's Tommy John procedure, could be in a Florida State League game within two weeks, Warthen said. The pitching coach said Young "feels great" after facing batters, but the Mets are proceeding slowly given the gravity of his surgery.
• Young is expected to eventually work his way up the Mets minor league system, from St. Lucie to Triple-A Buffalo. He has contract outs on June 1 and July 1 if he is not promoted to the majors by those dates.
• Pedro Beato, who like Carrasco opened the season on the DL, is progressing and "building up arm strength," according to Warthen.

Is the plan still to have Beato start in Buffalo? I understand if Olson is keeping the 5th starter spot warm for Beato/Mejia/Young. If he's not, Olson should be moved to the bullpen because without Herrera he is likely the first lefty reliever to be called up and rotation spot should be given to McHugh or Cohoon. I know Cohoon doesn't have the K/9 and didn't fair well in the 2/3 of the season he was in Buffalo last season, but he has pitched well in parts of 3 seasons (really small sample size this season) in Binghamton and I'd give him another shot in Buffalo before completely giving up.
