Oh boy. Elvin Ramirez fanned four in two scoreless innings. He’s been dominant so far in his 5.1 scoreless innings of action. He’s punched out 10 and yielded just two hits. Ramirez made just three appearances for Binghamton before the Astros selected him in the 2010 rule 5 draft, but his start out of the bullpen is easily one of the nice stories of the first two weeks for the B-Mets.
Aderlin had an RBI double to give Savannah a 5-2 lead in the top of the 9th.
Jared West blew the save, giving up a 3-run triple in the bottom of the inning. Luis Nieves would then throw out the potential winning run trying to score at the plate.
Dustin Lawley eventually homered in the 12th to give Savannah a 6-5 win. He's reached base in every game he's played this season.
Of concern, Savannah hitters struck out 21 times in the 12 inning game.
Cory Mazzoni is just cruising through the Florida State League so far. Monday: 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. His three-start line: 16 IP, 13 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 0 HR, 4 BB, 11 K. I’ve been told he’s sitting in the low 90s, but can reach back for 94 when he needs it.

Thats good; from the varied draft reports we got, I've conditioned myself to always assume the most pessimistic until proven otherwise. I think some reports had him hitting 97, others sitting high 80's. So this is a solid development, I think. I was worried we were eventually going to get a "sits 88-90" report this year.

One of the sites had him hitting 97 out of the pen last year. That seems pretty realistic if he's low 90's and can reach back for 94 as a starter. Any pitcher who throws low 90's has more than enough to get by. Then again according to Fangraphs MJ's favorite pitcher ever... Livan Hernandez average FB this year... 81.7 lol
