Sox are basically get Byrd for free; Cubs are paying most of his salary and they gave up Bowden, who they were going to cut loose for nothing. Great deal for them, Byrd is solid player.
As for that game today though, uh, wow.
I felt for Bobby a bit. I mean, he's up 9-0 and no one in that bullpen can get an out. Walking Cano to start the 8th was just plain stupid though.

The result is the same (turmoil for Yanks) but its really disappointing this hasn't been more ugly than a simple "guy is hurt" thing.
I will say the wind has been taken out of my sails a bit with this issue due to the fact that Coutinho tweets the same dang thing everytime someone brings up Pineda's name.

Michael Gonzalez's agent, Scott Boras, said Monday that his client should sign with a team within 10 days. Boras said Gonzalez is close to being fully recovered from offseason knee surgery and is ready to throw bullpen sessions for interested teams. The 33-year-old left-hander turned down a minor league deal from the Rangers in the early part of spring training and auditioned for the Reds in late March. He posted a 4.39 and 51/21 K/BB ratio over 53 1/3 innings between the Orioles and Rangers. Source: MLBlogs.com Apr 23 - 5:29 PM

Rotoworld:
Quote:
Braves optioned RHP Jair Jurrjens to Triple-A Gwinnett.
The announcement was made after Jurrjens gave up five runs in just three innings Monday night against the Dodgers. The 26-year-old right-hander now has an ugly 9.37 ERA, 2.45 WHIP and 8/10 K/BB ratio in 16 1/3 innings over four starts this season, so the Braves hope a trip to the minors will be able to get him back on track. Randall Delgado's spot in the rotation is safe for now while Tim Hudson (back) figures to come off the disabled list at some point this weekend
