Yep, Kirk K's too much to be a high average hitter - .260 is probably what we'll see by season's end - but he seems like he'll be a solid player nonetheless with some power, walks and defense.

When Torres gets fully back, Kirk should stay in the lineup and in RF as I've always hoped he'd be. Move Duda to LF and KEEP him there until Bay can prove hes going to contribute for us this season.
Not like Duda has done anything this year but he has a heck of a lot more promise at this point.
Why not just keep Kirk in CF, put Torres in left, and keep Duda in right? I'm sure Torres is professional enough to make the switch, while not having to change the other kids who are settling in?
Torres is ELITE in CF.
Kirk is a guy who maxes out effort to make up for the fact that he otherwise would likely be a corner OF.
We'll be better with the other alignment, and I'm sure its not going to be long-term detrimental to Kirk.
Davis' walk didn't push the Mets' win expectancy very far; it went from 27% to 32%. Thole walk, which loaded the bases, pushed it over 50%, Turner walk over 80%, Hairston groundout dropped it to 65%, and then Kirk's hit came.

We should all be careful to remember other fact that Kirk has always been crazy streaky and we're probably due for a 3/25 at some point.
No question. Also, as MJ pointed out, there's no pitching book on him, yet. They'll find a weakness and exploit it until he adjusts. But we can't forget we're talking about Andres Torres, a 30-something journeyman; Jason Bay, who may very well be washed up; and, Lucas Duda, who's far from proven as a hitter (albeit more than Kirk) and a liability in the field, as the other options.
I generally believe you ride out the hot hand, which Kirk has, and that's especially true given the other options.
