People who were Pro-TC unite and cast down scorn upon those who didn't like the hire!
He's a quitter! He won't be able to handle NY!
(for the record I still would be absolutely stunned if the Mets are "in it" come the trade deadline) but TC was the right hire at the right time and likely will be with the franchise in the FO in a few years.

My first choice was Backman, and I was wary of Collins until I heard him speak. He was my consolation though - would've lost my mind if they hired Melvin.
And Metro, don't wanna hijack the thread, but I don't think anyone should be "stunned" if the Mets are "in it" around the deadline. "In it" means within a few games of the 2nd WC. The NL Central is pretty mediocre, as is the West (the Dodgers' hot start not-withstanding). Most thought 2 WC's could come out of the East, and there's no reason to think the Mets can't at least compete through July.
Now back to TC....

Was one of the doubters with the Collins hire, but more and more becoming impressed with how's he's managed this team through the injuries and off the field drama. And the players have responded to him
Holy crap did you guys dodge a bullet with Hurdle. A big-headed red-faced bunt-happy bullet.

LOL I remember thinking "He seems like a good fit" and posting such and you jumping on me that I would HATE him. Yeah, BUNTZ = not a good fit with me.
I was the one Melvin apologist here, I think. I still think he gets a bum rap a bit because he's a boring personality because I think he's probably the most analytically-inclined of all the guys we looked at, and TC still, strategically, does things that make me go nuts, but a TC presser is usually a good time. Usually includes some great baseball cliche speak, and few odd phrases I'd never heard before (like "suckin'" instead of "stinkin'") and just a lot of energy, always.
