Another homerun given up by Montero. Flyball tendencies are hurting him today.

Observation: A-Rod is a very thick kid. Clear future first baseman body.

I've heard that Savannah is a pretty big pitchers's park, and it's sorta zapping Aderlin's power potential. Not to mention he has a really low BABIP, which i think Toby mentioned today in his article. He has to smash his way out of Savannah, but that's not easy to do.

And his poor fielding doesn't help.

at least he's still only 20

Leathersich got into the game but I had stopped watching. I'll have to watch his work in the archives later once the game is finished. Really eager to see him pitch.

It appears that the practice of pitching Leathersich two or three innings on three days rest is being abandoned, and he's being used like a typical reliever now. I'm not watching the game, but the stats seem to indicate he was gassed in his second inning (two walks and two lineouts, one a double play, for his outs) - not too surprising since he's pitching in second inning only one day's rest, which is new to him this year.

The "liner" was kind of a loopy hit toward Rivera that appeared to be off the fists.

I only saw his last 2 batters, though so I can't speak to the walks.

For the record I wasn't "hating" on Montero. I just was comparing/contrasting visually stuff wise the difference I noticed watching Familia/Harvey vs. Montero. Means nothing either way.

After Jared West blew the save, Travis Taijeron doubled and scored on a wild pitch in the top of the 12th to lift Savannah to a 10-9 victory.

Jeffrey Walters earned his first win of the year with 2 scoreless frames. He's done a nice job since getting the call from EST.

Walters is 25 in November. He was a pretty high pick in 2010 (7th round) but he was nothing special in BK as a 23 year old and they opted to send him to Savannah at 24. Being that he's a reliever now his age matters a little bit less but he's very old for the league.

New-look Bisons lineup:

Scales 2B
Rottino C (should we read anything into this?)
Pascucci DH
Lewis LF
Lutz 1B
Martin CF
Tui RF
Emaus 3B
Quintanilla SS

Nice seeing Emaus apparently settling into a spot, even vs. a RHP today. Hope he gets some good run - may come at the expense of Josh Satin, though, but I see Emaus as more of a potential help at some point than Satin, who has 0 defensive value and always lacked the power to be a strict 1B/DH type, and this year the plate discipline has disappeared while the K rate has stayed.

Eventually they're probably going to have to clear up a logjam here, especially when Valdy comes back, but Bingo could use some bodies anyway.

Ah, missed the transaction ledger: Raul Reyes gets sent down to Bingo for Lutz. So there's one potential logjam cleared.

Can Dustin Martin really play CF, though? I kind of hoped Reyes was going to get run - he absolutely can play the position. If he can help at all with the bat, he might be a bench player at some point.

Raul Reyes quietly put up 292/339/466 at AA this year and has extensive CF experience. He's a 5th OF at best but I wouldn't be stunned if he sees Queens in 2012.
