Carlos Beltran is being held out of Monday's lineup for precautionary reasons because his right knee is "barking."
It was initially reported that he was getting a day of rest, but that's not the whole story. Beltran previously had surgery on the very same knee back in January of 2010, so the Cardinals don't want to take any chances. The 35-year-old outfielder is off to a fantastic start this season, batting 298/.406/.653 with 13 homers, 32 RBI and a 1.058 OPS.

In the 80s I didn't even understand baseball. I was all about French soccer.
Yeah I wasn't around for the 80s either. That series still stings...what might have been, also the reason for man uninformed Mets' fans hatred of Carlos Beltran, one the best to wear Mets colors. Hope he gets a nice reception.

Carlos Beltran hit his National League leading 15th home run in Sunday's win over the Phillies.
Beltran's only hit of the afternoon was a three-run shot off of Chad Qualls in the fifth. The bomb was "just" Beltran's second in his past 10 games. He's hitting .290/.388/.605 through his first 46 games in a Cardinals uniform.
