Seems like some questionable logic with today's line-up.

If Wright is going to play, might have made more sense to have him DH since he's trying to recover from illness. And even if you don't go down that path, wouldn't it make more sense to DH Duda and let Baxter, Torres and Kirk patrol the OF?

New York Mets line-up for 5/20

1) Andres Torres DH
2) Mike Baxter LF
3) David Wright 3B
4) Lucas Duda RF
5) Daniel Murphy 2B
6) Kirk Nieuwenhuis CF
7) Ike Davis 1B
8 ) Ronny Cedeno SS
9) Rob Johnson C
Dillon Gee RHP

Wright has been saying the past few days that he'd much rather play 3b...doesn't like DHing.

With Torres, I'd guess its probably TC trying to give him a bit of a breather, maybe get him of the turf field.

Yeah, agree that the lineup is a little screwy for an AL game. Duda with anything other than 'DH' next to his name in a universe where an outfielder is getting the DH spot is surprising.

that has to be it ... because this makes very little sense otherwise.

If that is TC's logic, and it seems like it is, I'd still have to seriously disagree with it. The emergence of Kirk makes it easy to give Torres full days off occassionally. On days like today, if you're going to put 4 OF'ers in the line-up, the DH should be the weakest defender (i.e., Duda)....even more so after losing the first two games of this series.

Considering DWright's illness and Duda's defense, this line-up choice sure seems very questionable.

ho-hum, Wright with a 2-run double, average up to .414.

I don't think anyone was suggesting that Wright not be in the batting order, the question was who should be DH'ing today...

Rubin did report what I said earlier (clearly I am a genius) that the Torres DH thing was b/c of the turf and his leg issues. I don't see what the 4 OFers really has to do with it...given that issue. He could give Torres the full day off perhaps...but in order not to have your "4 OFer" thing that would mean that Turner is in there...which the end result is Duda still in the OF, and a worse hitter in the lineup
