What a bunch of nerds rapidly clicking their mice like that were...doing stuff to themselves!
Probably no clicking involved. I'd guess someone wrote a program that does auto-voting. Just feed it a few thousand hacked e-mail addresses, and it goes to work.

That was my assumption as well.

if thats true, MLB should investigate because that would discourage the normal fan voting in the future if people believe that a computer hacker can simply mess with the "integrity" of the vote.

This is really all on MLB. You cannot have a fan vote and expect people to take it seriously. I cannot fault Giant fans. They did nothing wrong. In fact I would have liked it if Freddy Sanchez made the team. It would force MLB to at least look at the system and reevaluate. And it would have been freakin hilarious. I mean the guy hasn't played an inning this year and really isn't good anyway.
I voted once and voted Daniel Murphy for 2B. Does that lump me in with Giants fans?

No, it doesn't count because your single click didn't count as 50 million votes for Murphy.

Doesn't stop people from voting for president.
Actually, they do have a security feature on the online ballots, where you have to enter a code displayed in an image for each vote, which is supposed to keep the botts out. But it looks like there are using numbers only in the code, so there's only 10 possibilities for each character, and only 5 characters. My guess is optical recognition software may be good enough by now to pull that off.

Word on the street is that old, retired, transplanted Mets fans in Palm Beach County, Florida were being turned away at the polls. Those that got through the process were confused by the ballot.
