As far as where he plays in the OF, I agree. But again, we are talking about Terry and I just can't get invested in specific player decisions he's made as they possibly relate to next season. And considering how down some seem to be about Lagares's bat, it would be a pretty surprising twist to see them move Nimmo.
If there is any "thought process" involved, it's that they want to see as much of Aoki as possible bc that's where a decision on next yr has to be made - whether to tender him or not. And giving Lagares as much PT as possible now means that where Nimmo plays is the lowest priority of the 3 players.
Ignoring the contradiction from one paragraph to the next, I don't think there is any chance they tender Aoki a contract. He's a guy you could probably get for half of what his expected raise will be next year (~$6m).
The Aoki playing time is all Terry. He still thinks its important to win and likely believes Aoki is his best option out there over the alternative (which is true). Its the same reason why Reyes plays everyday despite Cheech or Evans being on the team.

Agree that Terry is prob just trying to win games and so not much should be read into where Nimmo is playing right now.
Honestly him not playing CF was no big deal because Lagares is the best CF on the roster. No big deal to me about LF or RF...I think he can play all 3 spots with maybe LF being his best position.
