The upside with Dez is that he shows advanced plate discipline and flashes above average power and plays a premium position. And he is 20 years old.

The narrative hasn't changed ... the upside potential is still there ... but i guess a slump to start the season changes a lot of minds for some

Huge pet peeve of mine when we label somebody who walks a bunch as having "advanced plate discipline." He is a non-power hitter who has a near 30% career K rate in the lower minors. Thats not an advanced approach, thats passivity which leads to walks of course in the lower levels because the pitching isn't any good, but also is hampering his ability as a hitter overall.

Travis Taijeron routinely has had BB rates in the teens. Does anyone call his approach "advanced"?

If Taijeron had good secondaries and was 20 people very well might look at him differently.

Lindsay also had an elbow issue (nerve transposition?) that required surgery at the end of July so assuming this was bothering him for a while, it's hard to accurately judge his 2017 season. The long term outlook is still probably mostly intact.

I am an hour late to vote. My man would have lost anyway.....

I just want to point at some things here...on all of these players.

1. Dunn was bad but did show a few flashes. Perhaps he should have opened at a lower level but I really, really think his performance may have been hindered by a weakened shoulder. I say, give him the benefit of the doubt and see what he does in 2018 at the same level. My bets are he will be better, perhaps enough so to end 2018 at Binghamton.

2. Lindsay certainly did show some positive signs after an incredibly bad start. My biggest concern is his ability to stay healthy because I still believe a good portion of his upside will come to frutation if he can stay on the field. I like him a lot....

3. Guillorme's career will depend upon whether he can hit enough. With that, I am rooting for him. He certainly did make strides this year...

4. We don't know what we have in Kay but I will go with the Mets scouting and hope they are right.

I’m just quoting BA. I’ve seen Dez Lindsay play once in my entire life and I’m far from a swing scout
