I'm sure it's window dressing but I'm glad to hear Jeffy not mention the "meaningful baseball in September," BS they always like to use in these situations. Time will tell I guess with who they hire and who they dare spend money on
And I think realistically you can remove the first 4 names (and Hinch obviously).
Van Wagenen and Hinch are very good friends, so the rumors will definitely be there:
Quote:
Hinch and Van Wagenen became roommates beginning in their sophomore year (freshmen had to live with non-athletes at Stanford) and Van Wagenen was the best man at Hinch’s wedding. In August, Hinch hired Van Wagenen, then of CAA, to negotiate his four-year, $12 million contract extension with the Astros. That relationship — client/agent — must end now, but as Hinch said: “He doesn’t have to stop being my friend and lifelong buddy, he just has to stop being my agent.”

Yes, one writer (Puma? I forget) at least threw out the rumor that there are whispers in baseball circles that the Mets may try to trade for Hinch, and parties may be open to it if Hinch wins again in Houston and sort of does all he can do there.

Martino, too.

The Astros manager is Brodie Van Wagenen's close friend, and industry speculation has swirled for months that the Mets might try to trade for him. This one is likely to remain an interesting rumor, though. Folks familiar with the situation say that while Hinch might be ready for a new challenge, a manager trade would simply be too complicated, and too much of a longshot.

Of course in the ‘anything is possible’ realm, sure. Can throw Terry Collins’s name in there too I suppose at this stage. And btw I don’t know anything more than the next guy on this one and I’m not following everyone’s tweet on this either so there may be other names that have surfaced as well. I’m just going by what’s most logical.
