They're in first place of the conference now. Astonishing really that it's the first time since 2001 that the Devils have sole possession of the conference lead, considering they've won a Cup and a bunch of divisions since then.

Sutter's everything as a coach I'd hoped he would be and everything I hoped some of my other team's coaches would be but we won't get into that here  Marty's his usual excellent self and the offense has finally cranked it up enough.

Brodeur was unbelievable today. Simply stole the game.

2.15 GAA, .920 save %, 35 wins

It's amazing that he is playing at this level despite not getting any rest over the past 2 months.

Carolina finally beats the Devils this year, 2-1 in OT with Brodeur being his usual unbelievable self.

Two hottest teams in the NHL right now:
Devils- 7-1-2 in their last ten
Canes- 7-2-1 in their last ten

Btw, a Carolina team that is at least half way healthy (though 2 of their top six forwards and their #3 defensman are out for the remainder of teh year) can play against anyone, but the past three times these teams have met Carolina had been decimated by injuries and the flu.

Hottest in the Eastern Conference, maybe.

L10 Ducks: 9-1-0
L10 Stars: 8-2-0

Just sayin'!

I only worry about the Western Conference when it comes to playoff time.

BTW, I believe that the Stanley Cup finalist for the Western Conference will be coming out of that Pacific division, either the Ducks, Sharks or Stars will be it.

I don't see anyone knocking off the Ducks with a blueline of Pronger, Niedermayer, Schneider, Beauchemin and now Bergeron.

It's sort of like the NBA, all the strongest teams are in the West. Anaheim, Dallas and a healthy Detroit are clearly better than anything in the East. But an East team only has to beat one in the Finals.
