Steelers were looking to dump him. A talented guy that is a real pain in the arse off field. Good luck holding him down in NYC. I was hoping for a 3rd rounder.... Maybe the Steelers will package him and move up the draft a bit somewhere. I hope they don't go out and grab a WR in the first few rounds.
Leon Washington can be part of trade package only after signing his tender Posted by Mike Florio on April 12, 2010 12:50 AM ET There are rumors flying in the wake of the trade that sent receiver Santonio Holmes from the Steelers to the Jets that the compensation package includes both a fifth-round draft pick and running back Leon Washington.

Holmes is likely to be suspended for the first four games and he is a free agent after the season.
He is a great talent, but any claims that the Jets put any premium whatsoever on character are out the window.
Edwards, Cromartie, and now, Holmes.

Yeah, seems like a 5th rounder is fair value for what could be a rent-a-player for 12 games(plus playoffs, hopefully).

Edwards is likely facing a max of a 1 game suspension, if any. I think any thought it would be more significant has been put to rest. And the Leon rumor was debunked by the Post (and PFT, who merely reported it was out there but immediately said it was unlikely to be true).
Methinks "Ground and Pound" may be out of Brian Schottemheimer's vernacular next season.
