Well, that's one less position we need to worry about with that 1st rounder. This gives Tannenbaum and Rex a ton of flexibility with that first pick.

Braylon
Cotchery
Holmes

That's a fine group of receivers.

The Jets are looking good this year :)

Mike Tannenbaum is the best at what he does in the NFL.
EASILY the best.
What an absolute heist.

Steelers were looking to dump him. A talented guy that is a real pain in the arse off field. Good luck holding him down in NYC. I was hoping for a 3rd rounder.... Maybe the Steelers will package him and move up the draft a bit somewhere. I hope they don't go out and grab a WR in the first few rounds.

There are rumors flying in the wake of the trade that sent receiver Santonio Holmes from the Steelers to the Jets that the compensation package includes both a fifth-round draft pick and running back Leon Washington.

Both Edwards and Holmes are facing suspensions.

Seems like a steel to me.

Holmes is a good receiver. Let us hope Rex can knock some sense into him.

I hope we use the first rounder on some toys for Rex to use on D.

5TDS (depending Edwards fall or rise on the team during the regular season)

Forget the name and just think of this

will you get that type of production from a 5th round WR?

Most liekly not. This was a pretty dang good deal for the jets. As long as he plays. This is the concern here.

Holmes is likely to be suspended for the first four games and he is a free agent after the season.

He is a great talent, but any claims that the Jets put any premium whatsoever on character are out the window.

Edwards, Cromartie, and now, Holmes.

Yeah, seems like a 5th rounder is fair value for what could be a rent-a-player for 12 games(plus playoffs, hopefully).

Edwards is likely facing a max of a 1 game suspension, if any. I think any thought it would be more significant has been put to rest. And the Leon rumor was debunked by the Post (and PFT, who merely reported it was out there but immediately said it was unlikely to be true).

Methinks "Ground and Pound" may be out of Brian Schottemheimer's vernacular next season.

I also think "rent a player" is unlikely, as if you can only afford one of Edwards and Holmes, which one you signing? I know my answer.
