Too bad he burned his bridges with Bellichick, perhaps he could have gotten a job with the Pats.

I think Mangini can still be a good coach, he might be better suited to college ball though.

I think it's remarkable how poorly the Belichick coaching tree has fared when becoming head coaches.

An interesting similarity with Mangini, McDaniels, and Weis is that they had some quick success and then couldn't stop the snowball when things went bad.

I just heard UConn is interested in Mangini, who is a Connecticut native.

I have my doubts about his ability to succeed in college, considering the fact that he works so hard to suppress his personality and personality is vital in recruiting and generally being the face of the program.

I think he's better suited for that environment: he requires near tyrannical control of his program, players and coaches included. He would have that in college.

As for recruiting, he has been an NFL HC for a while and knows what it takes to succeed in the NFL. I think that's enough of a draw to get kids to come to your school.

Speaking of Little Belichicks, hot rumor is McDaniels being a serious candidate for the Raiders job. Of course when the Raiders manage to play solidly despite serious position flaws and have a respectable rookie class, they fire Tom Cable.

Ron Rivera considered a candidate for the Carolina job.

I would be shocked if nobody from the Holmgren coaching tree, particularly Gruden, are not seriously considered for the Browns job.

49ers are prepared to speak to Marvin Lewis (?!?%#$@%).

Rooney rule for the 49ers?

I don't understand the Raider thing at all, which is par for the course.

Wonder if anyone will hire Mangini again by Thursday, which is when I believe the Browns inked him last time.

You had to wonder what made them go "We have to get this guy locked up NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Well they got to look elsewhere (specifically in Palo Alto) because Marvin Lewis is staying in Cincy.

Expect the Raiders to make their decision in mid-January. Honestly, if Davis wants to make an upgrade he should jump on the Harbaugh train fast. It takes wind out of the Niners sails and Harbaugh would fit the Davis philosophy of a big-arm Quarterback offense.

No way a hot coaching prospect with a ton of other options like Harbaugh has goes to work for a lunatic like Al Davis.

Still have to wonder that if Favre's shoulder didn't go south on him in 2008 if we wouldn't be talking about Mangini in a different light.
