Edgin was just asked to give a profile of him to the viewing audience in an in-game interview. Gave usual blah answers about being a great guy, etc, then goes:
"Player profile? I don't really know. I'd strike him out..."
In an interview that was otherwise as dry as could be, I laughed.
What does that even mean?

Good stuff, I fully expect him to have success in AAA. Might not be long before he's up with the big boys as well. The Mets OF could be scary good with MDD and Kirk in 2 of the 3 OF spots. Might as well just play those 2 in the gaps and tell Duda to take a seat haha.

It just shows that you never know what will end up with player in the draft
Believe it or not but the reaction to the pick was overwhelmingly positive. I'd say 80% liked the pick with MJ saying it was his favorite position player

The golden post from that thread had to have come from TheRealDeal (sorry man, this was just too good to pass up): "Den Decker moves to catcher when it's all said and done. Maybe not this year, but in the future."

I also saw people hating that he was a senior and thought it was an organizational type player like Satin

But that was far from the consensus. Most people were pretty positive. He wasn't just a senior. He was a senior turning 23 shortly after the signing date. The list of guys like that who ended up the level of prospects of MDD is probably very low but in general people liked the pick.

Would be nice if TRD was right in this case. He usually is!

Actually, I should've done more reading in that thread. Looking at it again, TRD confused den Dekker with a different player who was an infielder. I knew that post seemed way too weird to be true.

LOL! I just read my post in there and I was not digging on this pick at that time. I wanted pitching. And I said he was a redux pick with Santamauro and Ratliff already in the fold, so what was the point? Glad there's real baseball men doing the draft and not me. den Dekker looks like a really really good pick right now.
