Mets are one of the worst defensive teams in baseball statistically
They also have one of the worst bullpens in baseball
that is a recipe for disaster.
Be thankful this teams SP has been one of the best in baseball this year
Otherwise we would be watching a pretty bad product. Defense will fix itself IMO but this pen needs to be revamped asap. Sandy should worry more about the crappy job he did with Wilpons money than he should about his 3B not making it in as a starter in a "meaningless" game

The best part is the players making this loss come to fruition are all players that do not belong on this roster, at all; Cedeno, Nickeas, Turner, Batista. Go away already.
This.
What a disaster. You can only roll the dice on that lefty lineup / righty lineup "platoon" for so long. With Ike and Murphy finally starting to heat up, you still put them in the game.
Let's say that this team DOES make the playoffs. Are we sitting Ike, Murphy and Thole if we face Kershaw in the NLDS? Get them some experience against the tough left hander and at the very least you've got Ike out there for defense. Turner looks lost out there at first base. Nickeas is clueless at the plate and just botched a sure DP that broke the game open. (Batista's throw could have been better, but it wasn't that bad -- that's completely on Nickeas).
As far as Cedeno goes, he's usually decent out there in the field -- but with Turner, Quintanilla and Cedeno all part of this bench, one of those three has to go -- and I'd prefer that it be Cedeno.
Batista -- I'm not going to beat that dead horse, we all know he should have been gone weeks ago.

TC painted himself into a corner by saying several days in advance that he'd have Ike and Murphy sit against Kershaw. Once he made that commitment, it's not the kind of thing that can be reversed.
I think if you look at the 162-game picture, you have to play the extras once in awhile to give yourself any kind of a bench.
That said, Nickeas is not a major leaguer and there's no way you need all of Q, Cedeno, and Turner.
You also got a look at the guys in the pen who aren't any good (although Hef looked good tonight).
There's plenty of room for fine-tuning on Sandy's part.
