Hate hate the Mets placement policy smh, no reason why Smith is in BK when he's an advanced arm...Same for Gilliam and I'm sure a few others.

I'm curious if Nido made an adjustment on his swing, that wide base and zero stride did nothing for him earlier in the year.

I think it's a little crazy to kvetch about the assignment of players who aren't going to play in the Major Leagues that calendar year.

Inflating your stats isn't a terrible thing.

The reason it doesn't matter for the recently drafted arms is because they are going to be shut down soon anyway.

HS draftees go to GCL/Kingsport

College draftees go to Brooklyn

Maybe a top college pick starts in Columbia or St Lucie

Kevin Smith is an unranked 7th round pick ... who was just OK in college if this is not the type of player who goes to Brooklyn .. who is playing for them?

Let’s enjoy that he has gotten off to a nice start

If he really does dominate - you send him to st lucie next year. Columbia and Brooklyn are pretty much equivalent talent wise anyway

If it's so few innings what's the difference the level? 25 innings in Columbia is going to hurt his development over 25 in BK?

How much difference is there really bet the SALY and NYPL? esp this time of year after promotions to A+...

I'd guess quite a bit. The majority of the rosters in the NYPL are fatigued and seeing their first pro action + changes to their game with new coaching.

Mazeika made the EL all-star game? What a joke. 87 wRC+? That's good for 10th on his own team among hitters with 100 or more PA's this year.

Brodey has quietly hit a bit better recently

I'm okay with it. It's not going to have a dramatic effect on development time and I think it's good that the kids get a taste of the city, considering that it's a very different environment to live and play in than anywhere else in the States. Fully recognizing that the team's logic has a lot more to do with some Wilponian Brooklyn Dodgers fever dream.

This is a pretty silly meme that has taken a on a life of its own over the years. Yeah, the Cyclones are taking the NYPL by storm with Brian Sharp and Ross Adolph! The Mets aren't placing their recent draftees any differently than other teams.
