Wonder if they have held off releasing Jose on the chance they might be able to take the field together for the last go round...

That would be something the Wilpon's would do, I think. They like their nostalgia. And I don't have a problem with that except when it interferes with the team's ability to win games. Reyes spot on the roster has done just that.

And, perhaps more damning, it interferes with the team's ability to ability to evaluate talent that might help in 2019 and beyond (by which I mean pretty much anyone not named Jose Reyes).

I don't hate the idea of a Wright/Reyes night, but the odds of Wright playing this year looks to me like less than 1 in 100.

Wright deserves the benefit of the doubt. He has worked hard, whether he has hurt the team with salary or not, to get back.

Reyes is more the nostalgia piece...

He’s starting a rehab assignment tomorrow.

I would probably check the box score the next day.

I will take whatever is left of David Wright rather than watch a Todd Frazier anymore.

I liked that signing. It’s easy to see why he’s been through like 4 teams in 3 years even when he was hitting the 30 plus bombs. Everything surrounding the occasional HR (which have gone the way of Jason avaya homeruns of course now that he’s here) is painful to watch.
