vs. Nola, yikes...

Nimmo CF
McNeil 2B
Conforto LF
Bruce RF
Frazier 3B
Smith 1B
Plawecki C
Reyes SS
Matz LHP

So Nimmo leads off when Rosie takes his weekly breather.

Dom gets a start at 1B.

Don't wanna ruin Rosario's confidence facing a pitcher like Nola!

Glad to see Nimmo back in CF and A-Jax benched. But ridiculous that Rosie is sitting against Nola.

McNeil hitting 2nd is a good spot for him, but it feels like a law with this team. 2nd baseman must hit 2nd.

I also like the 4 lefties in the 1-4 spots. Not sure why I like that but I like it.

I'd rather

Rosario
McNeil
Nimmo
Conforto
Frazier
Bruce
Dom
Plawecki

Hopefully we get to see that most of the way...

While I don't think Rosario has the OBP you want for a leadoff hitter I like putting him there because it gets him more at bats and therefore helps speed up his development. And then they undermine it by giving him a day off every fifth game.

I guarantee this is the exact reason why he's seated. But at least Callaway wasn't dumb enough to admit it this time.

Agreed

It's not exactly the right answer to have Rosario lead off but it seems his overall game has improved. There's likely no correlation to the shift to leadoff and his improved play but dagnabbit if it ain't broke, why fix it!?

It's Okay that Rosario is getting a day off.

Mets finish with 23 games in 24 days starting tonight.

17 of those in a row starting tonight.

This ump has an old-school NL strike zone. And so far he’s sticking to it. Very nice to see. I’m sure the pitchers both appreciate that.
I wonder if some umps are more “home plate” guys, for example. Are there stats for that? If there are four umps in a crew, and most series are three games, I’d bet some guys get HP more often than others. Just a thought. Tonight’s guy seems good.
