There was a game.

deGrom is now 8-9.

McNeil handled some chances at 3B. Anyone see how that looked?

Didn't see much of the game. Saw Nimmo make a really silly dive on a ball he had no chance at which ended up rolling to the wall. Believe he made a similar play recently.

deGrom now the major league record holder for most consecutive games allowing 3 runs or less.

Talked about deGrom and the CY on MLB Network last nite between Amsinger, Reynolds and Pedro. Started off by saying that it's now more or less his to lose, and Amsinger asked if either of them had a problem with Jake's w/l record, which seemed like a rhetorical question to which Pedro gave the obvious "not at all" answer adding that we have so much more data available today to break down the pitching performance, etc. But then Harold (true to form), said how he was struggling mightily with it... unbelievable.... as if he just doesn't get how meaningless the W/L statistic is for a pitcher. It was unbelievable to see how uncomfortable he was but obviously with no way to explain the issue.

You would have to believe there will be at least a few other Harold Reynoldses among the CY voting population.

I think he is probably the favorite, but he is by no means a runaway. I would say it is about 60-65% chance.

I just don't see how anyone can look at that one fact, that he has thrown 26 STRAIGHT GAMES where he has allowed 3 ER or less.......a record, and not realize that he has done everything he could to win games. Clubs average what.....almost 4 runs a game. He should have 26 wins! from that perspective.

Personally I like this one:

Ryan M. Spaeder
@theaceofspaeder
Pitchers with 24 or more straight appearances as a starter allowing three or fewer runs:

Jake Arrieta (29): 24-1 | Cubs: 27-2
Corey Kluber (26): 20-3 | Indians: 20-6
Jacob deGrom (26): 6-8 | Mets: 9-17
Clayton Kershaw (24): 19-2 | Dodgers: 22-2
Doc Gooden (24): 18-3 | Mets: 19-5

I thought deGrom held the record now:

Quote:
DeGrom allowed two runs in seven innings of work to become the first pitcher to allow three runs or fewer in 26 straight starts. Entering the night, the Mets' ace was tied with Leslie King of the Cubs, who completed the feat in 1910.

Two of the 26 starts in a row were 4 and 1 inning of work. Both starts, but not really official.
