Between these two, Dunn. They've both got a bunch of risk but Dunn, to me, will at least be a solid major leaguer even if he doesn't reach his ceiling.

Dunn

The turnaround from 2017 was night and day

K rate went way up / Walks went down

10+ k rate at AA

If not a solid #3 starter, he is a legit closer prospect

A couple of things working against Vientos for this spot

Questionable value on defense and on the base paths
Most of his value hinges on his hitting ability - and I’d like see him produce in full season low a before I get too excited

Vientos. Both are super high risk, but I don't buy Dunn as a SP. Vientos has higher upside.

I don’t see Dunn as being super high risk

Unless he gets injured, he’ll be pitching in the majors

If he ends up in the bullpen, he has chance of being a closer

You can dream up a higher upside for V

But closer upside or #3 starter is nothing to sneeze at

And the chances of him having at least the opportunity to make that upside a reality at the MLB level is pretty certain

I voted for Dunn but there is plenty of risk with him. He still lets a lot of runners get on base.

There's "risk" with every prospect.

I think Dunn is pretty low-risk as far as prospects go. His lower-end projection still makes him a major leaguer. Yeah, he's not guaranteed to be a starter, but he'll almost definitely end up a useful major leaguer. When you're comparing that risk to guys in rookie ball, it's tiny risk.

If I had to rank "floors" of prospects we have in the system right now, it'd probably be something like

Peterson
Alonso
Gimenez
Dunn
Kilome
Kay
Nido/Sanchez
Toffey

List drops off pretty quickly, obviously. Upper levels are still pretty weak in terms of high-floor guys. But Dunn will be a major leaguer, which makes him less of a risk than most of the system.

I think you're too high on Peterson, but otherwise, I mostly agree.

I think Sanchez ,as a solid glove catcher, is overlooked by many.
