Rookie maximums for at-bats (130), games pitched (30) or innings (50) in the major leagues"

If the 2 leaders are within 5% of each other, or the leader has less than 35% there will be a run-off between the top 2. If a run-off results in a tie the tiebreaker will be vote total in the previous poll, we will continue to "go back" in the polls until there is a clear leader.

*Jeff McNeil is ineligible
*Chris Flexen is ineligible

1) Andres Gimenez (SS) AA 19/37 votes- 51%
2) Peter Alonso (1B) AAA 24/36 votes- 67%
3) Jarred Kelenic (CF) Kingsport 31/36-86%
4) Ronny Mauricio (SS) Kingsport 12/33-36%
5) Justin Dunn (RHP) 10/37-27%, Run-off with Mark Vientos 17/30-57%
6) Mark Vientos (3b) 16/31-52%
7) David Peterson (LHP) 21/31- 68%
8) Franklyn Kilome (RHP) AA 20/33-61%

Voted for Puck based on upside, but of course the injury concern is there. But now we're into prospects with real questions.

Can I nominate Nido?

And, I agree, Pucki should be in the top 10. I voted Newton, but I think there's a pretty clear top 10 and it includes Kay and Puck.

Is the ceiling any more than backup Catcher for Nido..?

I know it's just a nomination, but we haven't even gotten to guys like Dibrell, Cortes, Hill, Kevin Smith, Gilliam, or Vilera yet.

Kevin Smith does not sound like he should go anywhere near this high

BP-

Quote:
LHP Kevin Smith

TO: Smith’s fastball sat at 87-90 mph Wednesday night and had a bit of sink to it. He predominantly worked away to both left- and right-handed bats, but was far more comfortable pitching to lefties and already has nasty movement on his slider, which was clocked in at 80-83 mph.

The Mets’ 2018 seventh-round selection, who boasts a 0.76 ERA and WHIP after Wednesday’s one-inning outing where he struck out two and walked one, could be more than just a LOOGY. Smith throws out of a windup with a pseudo-side arm release and has primarily been used as a long reliever with Brooklyn.

His approach reminded me that of Oliver Perez’s with the Indians this year, but he will need to improve his fastball if he wants to carve out a larger role.

AR: A low-slot lefty out of the SEC (Georgia), Smith was always a likely overdraft candidate despite his obvious deficiencies. He has experience starting in school and has made three starts with Brooklyn this summer, but his long-term home is in the bullpen as a LOOGY. Besides his slider, there’s a real lack of stuff here that’s going to limit Smith’s ceiling.

The stats (0.76 ERA, 28 K, 6 BB, in 23.2 IP) are exactly what you’d expect out of a crafty SEC southpaw in short-season ball. Smith’s slider will flash average to above and the delivery is relatively clean, but his fastball was topping out at 90 mph in just a single inning of work. Sounds an awful lot like the Daniel Zamora starter kit, doesn’t it?

I only saw one change at 79, an offering Smith will need to develop heavily to elevate his future projection. For now, he’s got the ceiling of a future LOOGY for me.

And speaking of Zamora, I think he prob belongs in the top 30 also. Looks like an under the radar deal that may work out nicely.

Not to beat a dead horse but Smith did not make Prospect1500 mid-season top 51 Mets prospects (which did include 2018 picks) so I don't see any way he's deserving of a nomination anytime soon, Scott Manea might be a name that should be discussed in the 20-30 range however.

Other names I would look at in the 25-35 range might be (Metro mentioned some of these already):
Paez
Winaker
Manea
Villines
Cavallaro
Crismatt
AHern
Beracierta
Viall
Lindsay
Zamora

And then there are a few young arms I don't know much about that at least appear interesting (again, forgive me if any have been mentioned):
Junior Santos
Cesar Loaiza
Willy Taveras
Oscar Rojas
