Per Heyman

Mets interviewed Adam Guttridge, an analytics expert who currently works as a consultant for MLB teams, for a front office position. Possible new assistant GM.

It's a start I suppose. Don't know anything about him but good to get some fresh young brains in there.

Wonder if they have been in touch with Adam Fisher to return.

Great hire. Gutt is one of the smartest guys I’ve met in baseball, period. He’s Keith Woolner, Chaim bloom, Sig Mejdal smart.

Where front offices can reliably outpace each other,” he says, “is in distinguishing between different classes of ‘marginal’ players with the greatest degree of precision. Properly assessing values in these regions is where teams make or break themselves longer-term.”

Looks like he can help finding those guys who are break out potentials in the middle of their careers, and fix the lower half of the roster.

This is a good quote. Mets have had many issues over the years, but for the last decade, one thing that stands out to me as an area a new GM can fix is the fairly consistently poor bench and bullpen performances, where the Mets have seemingly recently just designated an amount of $$ regardless of the players under the philosophy that those spots are fungible.

He's going to do exactly what I wanted Bloom to do. Guess Bloom didn't want to he an assistant GM.
