With these 2 and Zach Lee, we'd have a real nice little AA squad in 2012.

Lee, and the 4 listed above actually didn't receive invites to spring training.

I feel like someone here, uncomfortably recently, called for an Alcantara signing. Whoever that was, you're welcome (says BVW).

Wonder if any of the above are due to our new analytics guy who liked to find the under the radar players.

Not that they're world-beaters or anything, but I'm surprised Lee and Alcantara couldn't even net a ST invite somewhere.

Arquimedes Caminero is kind of an interesting signing by the Mets, even on a Minors deal.

His 4-seamer averaged 98.8 mph from 2015-16 before he went to Japan... 2nd-highest in MLB behind Aroldis Chapman. He hit 100+ mph 253 times, 3rd-most behind Chapman and Mauricio Cabrera

Alcantara wasn’t even in affiliated ball last year. Looks like he bounced around a few Mexican League teams.

It’s been a hard fall.

Was excellent in 2017 in Japan and awful in 2018 so...who knows? But didn’t have a necessarily bad track record in MLB before leaving either.

I’d take him over Jacob Rhame.

Seconded. But chances are most or all of these guys will be but a faint memory by the time the season rolls around.

The MLB.com article said that Caminero underwent elbow surgery last year, but is pitching winter ball, so maybe that explains the rough 2018? Either way, it's worth giving him a look in Port St. Lucie this March.
