Vientos to me has the highest amount of helium with Mauricio right behind. If he gets his D straight I think we'll have a monster on our hands.

Any indications we'll see Alvarez, Hernandez and Valdez playing stateside this year?

Hernandez 100%. 2 years in the DSL for a top IFA signee is unheard of for the Mets. If that happens he's a NP

Bringing young kids over is rarely a baseball question. It's really a question of how comfortable the Mets feel they would be in a strange new environment.

Exciting! If our big club stays healthy, then our minor leaguers will percolate for a solid year and really grow. Can't remember the last time we've been able to let them develop that way. We were always jumping people up from Bingy or calling up from Vague-ass and sending them down. I'm looking forward to keeping tabs on SYR, and see what happens. About the only questions I have left are who signs Bryce Hoppah, and how many "snaps" does Timbow get in the bigs.

Have fun coming up with top idea signees who spent 2 years in the dsl. If Hernandez isn't ready now (there is no indication this is actually the case) it would be a major, major red flag.

I think Nitey meant first year players, not Hernandez, but just for fun.

Newton spent two years in DSL. His first year he was pretty raw, his 2nd season in DSL he rocked and may have been too advanced.

Vincente Lupo also spent two years, but he had that hypothermia injury (an unusual injury but can be serious) and that slowed him down his first year. His 2nd year was obviously rockem-sockem.

That's all I can think of off hand.

Newton was not a major/big bonus IFA signing and Lupo was a total bust. Who are the IFA players the Mets gave major bonuses to that spent 2 years in the DSL that even had full-season success let alone had mlb careers?

Rechecked... Newton got 50k, so no he's not an example I'm asking for. He's a cheap signee that has developed. Where are the ,400,500+ k guys the Mets left in the DSL for 2 seasons who were successful? It's not happening here but yeah it would suggest Hernandez wasn't very good

Speaking of Newton... some think he has to move off of SS... and yet Keith Law puts a potential 70 grade on his glove?
