This team just looks bad all around.

Gomez somehow lost his bat and helmet on that swing. Surprised his jersey didn’t come flying off and his pants didn’t turn into raggedy purple cut-off shorts.

And sure enough you get the Gomez drama in his 1st game here. But maybe this team needs a little emotion to shake some life into them.

DeGrom seems to be throwing fewer change ups tonight.

Every ball seems to find a gap. My goodness. This is just bad.

The worst part is the bats can’t do anything against Richards who hasn’t exactly been lighting it up this season.

Keep playing like this and the Riggleman era will begin.

While I don’t think Mickey is a great manager, this is hard to pin on him. Nimmo, Cano, Ramos, Frazier, Conforto (to an extent), deGrom, Syndergaard, Wheeler, and Familia have all been massively disappointing. That’s most of your rotation and about half your line up. Alonso has also normalized. They need these guys to start performing and fast. That’s the issue, not Mickey, and frankly not even Brodie really.

Could Brodie have done other moves during the off-season or still sign Keuchel or Kimbrel? Sure. But would that have even made more than a game or two difference? I’m skeptical given all the underperformers.
