How many think Bruce and Swarzak will be worth more in WAR than Diaz and Cano at season’s end

I mean.........there's a great chance of that. We are already almost halfway through and its 1.8 - 0.1. You have to assume both Bruce and Swarzak will keep increasing by at least a little. So Diaz and Cano have some work to do.

Diaz has given up a run in 6 of his 29 appearances this season.

That's worse than expected, but he's still been mostly great.

he has been fine. No one is really disputing that. but he hasn't been ELITE! He hasn't been close to what we paid for him. At the moment. We don't know what will happen with Kelenic or Dunn.

That said, Bruce and Swarzak are both having fine seasons that alone have been worth more than Cano and Diaz have been and that's scary if you think about that just alone.

I mean.....with both Cano and Diaz, their WAR comes to 0.1. Bruce and Swarzak are at 1.8.
And I think it is safe to say that everyone here thinks Kelenic appears to be a legit possible star player all around while Dunn can pitch.

But neither Bruce nor Swarzak really fit what the Mets needed for this season.

They wanted a closer, and they found one that they can control for years, and had good reason to believe was one of the best in the game.

They wanted an infielder that they could put in the middle of the order. I don't know why they let him sign with San Diego and traded for Cano, but it's clear that they thought McNeil in the outfield and an infield bat was what they wanted.

Mets go down weakly in the bottom of the 9th against Martinez.

And DIAZ is coming in again?l to pitch the 10th? Any particular reason why?

Might they not need him later in the 2nd game?

....AND he gives it up again. Cards take the lead.

Mickey lets him pitch to DeJong. Brilliant.

But he's got 9 1/2 years to improve, at the end of which he'll be around the same age Cano is now.

Man tough spot for Diaz. The humidity is up a little bit today and the glare of the sun at 6:20 pm is really treacherous.

Sell.

Sell.

Sell.

And also, someone should probably nudge the Mets awake for the second game. Because those were clearly not conscious adults in that 13 minute roll-over we just witnessed.

It was certainly peak Mets. Should be battling to go a game over, now they’re trying to tread water
