After the excitement of the record-breaker, (before the on-field emotion), I was just thinking "why couldn't it have been a GKR night!?" Dallas Keuchel was being interviewed, so it was kinda doubly-awkward. Though he WAS talking about having given up the tying HR the night before, so sorta fitting?

Howie didn't even have the call on the radio. Randazzo was behind the mic.

Pete made the season worthwhile. Setting the kinds of records Mets don’t set

Absolutely true. The Mets have had good hitters before, but never a slugger like this. This is some Yankees stuff. We don’t have guys like this! Especially a homegrown guy. He hit sooo many homers this year. It’s amazing. All he’s done is hit homers. The minors. The futures game. Arizona fall ball. More minors. Then the majors. Then the homerun derby. Then a pennant race. Now a record. Heck yes, Pete. Keep hitting laser bombs.

Super good call by Fox to be doing a live, in-game interview with a Braves pitcher while Pete is busy breaking the HR record.

They really did that?.SMH

To their credit, they broke completely away from it to cover the moment. The focus was 100% on the homer. The briefly thanked Kuechel for the time at the very end.
