David Wright exploded out of one of the worst stretches of his career with 3 hits, 3 RBI, and 2 2Bs and Juan Lagares had 4 hits and reached base 5 times as the Mets overpowered the Marlins 8-6. Wright has hit .368/.409/.474/.883 over the last five games. Lagares stole 2 bases and scored 3 times, Travis d’Arnaud added 3 hits, and Wilmer Flores and Matt den Dekker each had two as the Mets produced what seemed like a week of offense against starter Brad Penny and the Marlins pen. Jeurys Familia and Jenrry Mejia worked a perfect 8th/9th for their 17th hold and 22nd save respectively.

“It’s fun to get hits, it’s fun to drive in runs, and it sure is fun to win,” Wright said. “All in all, a good night.”

Wright came into the game in a 7-for-50 slump, dating to Aug. 14, and had only one extra-base hit in August.

“It’s nice to feel comfortable and it’s nice to feel dangerous, and that’s what I’ve felt lately,” Wright said.
