Johan Santana has started playing catch, beginning the long road back from should surgery last September, to repair a torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder, according to Mets.com:

“Warthen told reporters at the team’s Spring Training complex in Port St. Lucie, Fla., that Santana has played catch three times, his first throwing activity since September surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder.

Though Warthen did not offer a timetable for Santana’s return, various Mets officials have pegged it for around midseason.”

“The Mets expect Santana to join his teammates in camp by Tuesday’s report date for pitchers and catchers.”
