Bobby Abreu was 4-4 and Ruben Tejada and Lucas Duda each had two hits as the Mets topped the Padres 6-2 after a nearly 2 hour delay. Bartolo Colon pitched 7+ innings striking out 7 and allowing just 2 runs on four hits. Colon continued a streak of what has been 4 wins in five starts, pitching at least into the sixth in each of those games and not allowing more than 2 runs in any of those starts.

Batting fourth in place of Curtis Granderson (calf), the 40-year-old Abreu hit a leadoff double in the second and scored on Taylor Teagarden’s two-out single.

“Anytime they need me there, I’m always going to be ready to play the game,” Abreu said.

He singled in the fourth and Lucas Duda tied it 2-all on a two-out double just beyond the reach of diving center fielder Will Venable. Matt den Dekker blooped a ground-rule double that put New York ahead.
