The Mets held on thru a wild 6 run ninth inning and held off the Marlins 8-6 to get their sixth straight win, second straight series sweep, and kept their hold on first place in the NL East headed into an off day. Juan Uribe hit a three run homer and Matt Harvey delivered 7 2 hit shutout innings to give the Mets what would have been an easy win until the ninth inning almost meltdown. The Mets new offense continued it’s post-deadline surge with 12 more hits and 8 runs. BOX | RECAP

“For us to come down and do what we did, and continue what we’re doing, is pretty important and pretty special,” Harvey said. “We’re not going to stop here. We’ve got more games to go and we want to put the pedal down.”
