Steven Matz made his debut a spectacular one, pitching 7+ innings of two run ball for his first major league win, and mashing 3 hits and driving in 4 RBI to give the Mets a 7-2 win over the Reds. Curtis Granderson and Johnny Monell each had two hits, but the day clearly belonged to Matz who provided the bulk of the offense, and allowed just 2 solo home runs and 5 hits, while striking out 6.
