Mets Lose In Extra Innings

by Ed Tsunoda on April 27, 2018

The Mets dropped the series finale in St. Louis 4-3 in 13 innings despite a strong outing from Noah Syndergaard and having a lead twice late in the game. The bullpen didn’t get it done, but it was the defense that let the game slip away. Juan Lagares, inserted for defensive purposes, didn’t get to what appeared to be a catchable ball. Amed Rosario’s miscue put the tying run on base.

“It was just out of our reach a couple times. They didn’t hit one ball hard off Syndergaard. … It wasn’t really about bad defense. It was just out of reach, just by a hair.” — Callaway, on the Mets’ defensive issues

uh huh.
