The Mets took three out of four games against Lakeland and moved 0.5 games ahead of the Fort Myers Miracle for first place in the Florida State League South Division.

Herrera went 3 for 6 in the game. He now has nine multi hit games in his last 10 contests. His winning double came off of Tyler Clark with no outs. Maikis De La Cruz, who led off the frame with a single, scored easily to break the tie.

Wheeler struck out the side in the 10th and struck out two more in the 11th to earn the win. Three Mets pitchers – starter Steven Matz, Seth Lugo and Wheeler – combined for 19 strikeouts, a season high for the St. Lucie staff.
