Mets Defeat Crabs

by Ed Tsunoda on May 5, 2014

The St. Lucie Mets plated 2 runs in the first and never looked back, snapping the Port Charlotte Stone Crab’s 5 game winning streak. No one, it seems has an answer for St. Lucie’s trio at the top of the lineup, as Dilson Herrera (.302 avg, .355 obp), Brandon Nimmo (.373 avg, .511 obp), and TJ Rivera (.411 avg, .450 obp) continue to scald the ball and get on base at an unholy rate. The win moved St. Lucie into sole possession of first place in the FSL South.

BOX | RECAP

The St. Lucie Mets jumped out to another early lead and cruised to a 5-0 win over the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Sunday afternoon at Charlotte Sports Park.

For the fourth consecutive game on their six-game road trip, the Mets scored two runs in the first inning. Jeff Ames walked Dilson Herrera and Brandon Nimmo to begin the game, and T.J. Rivera singled to load the bases. Jairo Perez drove in Herrera with a single and Cam Maron followed with an sac fly to plate Nimmo and make it a 2-0 lead.

That would be plenty for Mets starter Matt Koch
