The Mets drafted Brown in the 18th round (539th overall) of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft. He was drafted out of Wingate University in North Carolina, where he struck out 111 batters in 95 innings in his junior season. Brown is a native of Hamlet, NC. The Mets stealthily scouted Brown, feeling he was a sleeper pick.

Contract/Options Status: Released late November 2009
