Reed was originally drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 5th round of the 2002 amateur draft out of Texas A&M University. He reached the majors with Florida in 2006, appearing in 42 games. The Mets signed him in mid-May 2008 after he had been released. Reed is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. The Mets released him at the end of June 2008.
