"Super Joe" McEwing was traded to the Mets on March 18, 2000 from the Cardinals. He was traded for Jesse Orosco who originally was obtained by the Mets from the Twins minor league system when he was 17 for the soon-to-retire Jerry Koosman. (You create the trivia question!) McEwing‘s gritty and determined style of play, as well as the diversity of positions he plays, have made him a valuable utility player. The Mets released Joe on March 17, 2005.Contract/Options Status: Signed December, 2003 2 yr/$1 M contract |Signed from 2004-2005
