The Mets drafted Allen in the 24th round (734th overall) of the 2008 amateur draft. He began his pro career with the GCL Mets that summer and in 2009, was assigned to Savannah. Allen was a two-way player at the The Pendleton School (HS) in Bradenton, Florida.
