Valdez is a product of the Expos‘ Dominican Summer League team. He further developed in the Marlins‘ organization before making his ML debut with Chicago in 2004. Valdez has shown that he can hit for average and steal bases thus far in his minor league career. He was claimed off waivers by the Mariners on April 1, 2005, ending his short stint as a Met.
